Privacy Policy

Pain Discovery is a market research tool operated by an independent developer. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how it is handled, including data accessed through YouTube API Services.

1. Data We Collect

When you use the Service to research a market or industry, we collect publicly available data from several sources, including YouTube video comments, Hacker News posts, GitHub issues, Product Hunt discussions, and App Store reviews. This may include comment text, author display name, public channel or profile identifiers, and timestamps.

We do not collect private messages, private videos, email addresses of YouTube commenters, or any data beyond what is publicly visible on the respective platform.

2. How We Use YouTube Data

We use the YouTube Data API to identify videos relevant to a given industry search and retrieve public comments for aggregated analysis. This data is used to identify recurring product complaints and market pain points, presented to the user as summarized, aggregated insights, not as a republication of individual comments.

Public author information such as display name or channel handle associated with comments may be retained internally to support optional outreach features, where a user of our platform chooses to reach out to a potential early customer identified through this research. We do not sell, publicly display, or share this data with third parties for advertising purposes.

3. Third-Party Services

We use Supabase for authentication via Google OAuth and data storage, Anthropic and OpenAI APIs for text analysis and embeddings, and standard cloud infrastructure to run the Service. These providers process data on our behalf under their own respective privacy and security terms.

4. Data Retention and Deletion

We retain collected public data for as long as necessary to provide market research results and, where applicable, outreach features. You may request deletion of any data associated with your account by contacting us at the email below.

5. Your Rights

If you believe your public content has been processed by our Service and you would like it excluded from our dataset, contact us and we will remove it within a reasonable time.

6. Compliance

Our use of YouTube API Services is subject to the YouTube Terms of Service, available at https://www.youtube.com/t/terms, and the Google Privacy Policy, available at https://policies.google.com/privacy.
